Decolonising Fashion

About Us

This society is a safe-space to actively apply methods in ‘decolonising’ fashion practices.
We recognise ‘decolonisation’ is a contested term, so with this society we aim to question how fashion, and our study of fashion can become more of an inclusive space both socially and academically.
As a group, we are collaborative in applying decolonisation practices to the fashion industry, bringing awareness, and building communities in the field.

Planned Events/Activities

Guest speakers to come into the university
Have craft specialists with no formal fashion education teach their methods of making
Group museum and gallery tours
Create visual and academic work to exhibit
Work with local community groups and charities to extend the university’s privileges
